Phantom Photonics, a spinout from the University of Waterloo's Quantum Photonics Lab, was founded by Alex Maierean, Dr. Shihan Sajeed, and Prof. Thomas Jennewein to develop advanced quantum 3D remote sensing technology. This technology leverages quantum coherence to provide unmatched noise resilience, extend operational distances, and integrate covert functionality, making the system resistant to adversarial attacks like blinding. While ideal for defense applications, the patent-pending innovation also has civilian uses, including undersea asset monitoring and anti-collision systems for satellites.
