Associate Director, Founder Acceleration

The Associate Director, Founder Acceleration is responsible for continuing training with new founders after they have completed the Velocity campus programs. Founders who have demonstrated commitment to their companies by starting their careers as entrepreneurs will be moved further, faster by the programming, events and resources organized by this individual.

Lead, Programs and Events

The Velocity Lead, Programs and Events will be responsible for planning, organization and execution of all Velocity events taking place on the University of Waterloo campus. This includes student community building events, entrepreneurial information sessions, weeks long innovation challenges, hackathons, guest speaker fireside chats, and pitch competitions. They will work with Velocity team members, external organizations, and student volunteers to deliver inspiring and engaging activities. The goal of these activities is to inspire students to begin their entrepreneurial journey and plant the seeds for a vibrant innovation community. It will be important that the Program and Events Lead maintain a focus on building inclusive programming so that any student can join and feel a sense of belonging. The incumbent will also support larger events occurring at the off-campus incubator such as demo days and alumni/investor meet ups.

Lab Technician

The Laboratory Technician will be primarily responsible for supporting student activities taking place in the Velocity laboratories and spaces.  Velocity Science lab – a partnership between Velocity and The Faculty of Science – provides lab space and equipment for aspiring entrepreneurs that require those facilities. This role will ensure they are properly supplied and arranged for student use as well as help maintain a safe and activated environment for student innovation while helping to build an inclusive culture among the community.

Full Stack Developer

The Full Stack Developer will be part of a newly formed team, working directly with leadership, building founder-facing tools to automate standard processes and low-touch interactions.  This will increase responsiveness to founder requests and scale the number of founders that are served.

Investor Relations Officer

As a key member of the Velocity team, the Investor Relations Officer (IRO) is responsible for the full scope of development activities related to the discovery, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of a portfolio of investors, including, but not limited to, venture capitalist, family offices, angel groups and individuals to start-up companies managed by Velocity and collaboratively with the greater University of Waterloo community.


The IRO will primarily focus on preparing founders for fundraising success, managing a growing pipeline of start-ups, actively engaging with investors across North America and promoting Velocity’s portfolio to the broader community.
