VeloCity Venture Fund Winners

October 6, 2011

Yesterday afternoon, we proudly awarded $100,000 to the best student-founded startups at the University of Waterloo. It was certainly a difficult decision for our team of judges, comprised of Ali Asaria, CEO and founder of Well.Ca, Ted Livingston, CEO and founder of Kik Interactive Inc., David Crow, VeloCity’s EIR, and of course, Jesse Rodgers, Director of VeloCity and Student Innovation. Eight fantastic teams competed, but only four could win.

These winners will receive $25,000 in funding, incorporation of their business, mentorship, and come January, will move into our workspace at the Communitech Hub. The best part? We take nothing in return.

Congratulations to:

MappedIn – Founded in 2010, MappedIn coins themselves “Google Maps for indoor places”. Targeting shopping malls, MappedIn is revolutionizing navigation and indoor mapping.

Exquisine – Founded the day prior to the VeloCity Venture Fund Finals, Exquisine will deliver a hot plate of signature dishes from local restaurants to customers’ doors on a weekly basis.
